Summer’s just too short. And too cold. Don’t even remember if I ever went out wearing a singlet without having to bring a jumper with me. Brr…

There’s an app in FB that I click from time to time. It says that God wants me to know…

“that when you need some energy and inspiration, step outside. Touch the Earth with your feet, lift your face to the sun, breathe the air, listen to the birds and the wind through the trees. Glory in the creation that surrounds you.”

So I decided to go out and do some sketching while waiting for the kiddo. I need to free my mind and contemplate on what to do next. Having a “happy problem.” Need to make a decision. Sabi nga, when it rains, it pours. Besides, an idea came to mind. Since I have all the time in the world while waiting for the kid at the school, I might just do sketches of the school and give copies to the principal.

Waiting for the Kiddo

I come to pickup the kiddo from school about 45 minutes before bell. Yeah, too early, but I’d rather be early and get a parking rather than be just right on time but queuing. I have tried all sorts of things to pass time while waiting for the kiddo – going to the grocery, veggie or food stalls, go to the famous shops at Newmarket, or just FBying inside the car. Then I today, I just thought I would just draw…

Auckland Silhouette

Ces invited me to join an online community of artists on Drawing Day 2010 (5th of June), and I entered this sketch of mine – a view of Auckland city from Devonport.

It was featured on the homepage and my tee version was in the ‘most popular’ page for days (at least a week, I think). Awesome feeling. Especially for a 5 to 10 minute doodle…

This is a self-portrait done probably about 12 years ago. I was cleaning up my messy storage back in the Philippines during my recent holiday and found lots of my old drawings. I remember I did this while at work.

This is my 2nd attempt at a self-portrait. The first one was ages ago as a teenager, stricken by chicken pox without anything to do and doodled my scarred naked image in front of a mirror. I wonder what happened to it…

Haay salamat at nakita ko ang araw pagkatapos ng ilang linggong maulan. (My apologies. Alam kong karamihan sa Pilipinas ay naghihintay ng tag-ulan sa sobrang init.) Pagkatapos kong manirahan sa malamig na Hilagang Tsina ng limang taon, maligayang-maligaya makakita ng nyebe, na-realized kong isa akong summer person. Mas gusto ko ang tag-init kaysa taglamig. Maulan nga lamang dito sa Auckland ngunit hindi kainitan ang summer at hindi kalamigan ang winter.

Tingnan natin ang pagbabago ng panahon mula sa aming balkonahe…

Mabibilang mo ba ang mga bisikletang makikita mo dito? Ang dami, ano? Ito ay isa sa mga bicycle parking lots na makikita sa China. Ang larawang ito ay kuha sa tapat ng KFC at ng paborito naming Korean restaurant sa Shijiazhuang.

Working with Podium
