LP#9: Ihip ng Hangin

Taglagas na talaga! Sa ihip ng hangin ay naglalaglagan ang mga tuyong dahon sa likuran ng aking rock lobster.(Recipe na matatagpuan dito.)

Sa pangalawang pagkakataon para sa Litratong Pinoy, ito ay larawang kuha sa aming hardin. Kung inyong madadalaw ang aking Binagoongan post ay makikita ang puno na kulay berde pa. Sa aking LP#8, taglagas na talaga at ang dahon ay medyo kulay dilaw na. Pero sa pagbagsak sa lupa ito ay singpula na ng rock lobster.

Yan tuloy… ang kalat sa aming likod bahay.

Sus ginoo! Kayhangin sa Ninety Mile Beach! Nahalukay ko lang sa aking baul ng mga larawan ang kuha ko sa sarili ko noong nakaraang taon. Bloopers po dahil I-shoot-myself ang drama ko, kuntodo emote pa ang lola n’yo hindi pala nakasama ang mukha sa litrato hehehehe…

I am not a professional cook. My only claim to having a culinary background is a short stint as my dad’s teen ‘sous chef’ in his carinderia ages ago. Dad ran small eateries since I was a young kid - serving standard ‘turo-turo’ food ranging from the likes of menudo, adobo, pritong isda, dinuguan, binagoongan, bopis, munggo, pinakbet and giniling to merienda fares like goto, ginataan, pancit bihon, halu-halo and saging con yelo.

My father, a farmer in his hometown before working his way to becoming an accountant, definitely influenced my cooking in a lot of ways than I thought. My siblings and I were raised in a backyard full of fruit trees and vegetable garden. We spent weekends and the summer breaks running around with ducks, chickens, goats and pigs. I had wonderful memories of gathering eggs, butchering chickens, selling vegetables and the sweet aroma of preserved fruits. But my love for art led me to a degree in Architecture. Just few months after getting my license, I went abroad and lived independently at age 23. Definitely no maid, no cook, and a totally different food culture. Along the way I met lots of friends and spent what seemed a lifetime learning new tricks and recipes.

Now living in Auckland, I am a work-from-home mum who juggles time between work, fun and family - in pursuit of work-life balance. No matter how busy I am, I love the idea of cooking for my family. My blog chronicles home cooking greatly influenced by life outside my home country from Southeast Asia to Beijing and Auckland. And most of the time, being busy also means easy (sometimes quick), affordable meals.

  1. Nakakatuwa yung unang larawan! Hindi mo mapapansin yung mga dahon na nalalaglag kung hindi mo titignan mabuti. At napakaganda ng kalat sa inyong bakuran! :)

  2. Medyo naguluhan ako nang sinabi mong taglagas na diyan hanggang sa maalala ko na nasa NZ ka pala – hehehe :)

    Ewan ko kung bakit pero naaalala ko si Sebastian ng Little Mermaid sa Rock Lobster mo!

  5. syempre namanga na naman ako sa lobster, haha! :) pero fave ko yung dalawang pictures ng mga dahon. autumn ang fave kong season dahil aliw na aliw ako sa mga tuyong dahon na nalalaglad at nililipad ng hangin. :)

  6. he he,madalas din pong ganyan ang drama ko pag may-i-took-my-own-pic ako. one time after na nag-join kaming mag-asawa sa company gathering sa oxford by the river dito sa brisbane a month ago,ganda pa ng aya ko na mag-picture taking kami while were at our best clothes pa at pauwi na kami nun,naka-background pa man din yung resto but ng makunan na ang pic mga baba lang at bibig namin ang nakuha,naka-zoom pala yung cam ng cellphone,wahh!
